The Imaginary Field Trip

Students will create a PowerPoint narrative about an imaginary field trip. Photoshop will be used to create pictures to make the story more interesting. This lesson plan is intended for middle school and high school students with a basic understanding of Photoshop and PowerPoint. However, no experience is needed since the tutorials cover the skills needed.

Order of Events:

  1. Handouts given out and project explained. Each story can be created by 1 to 4 students.
  2. The teacher shows a sample of what the beginning of a project might look like. See sample.pdf
  3. Students write down the setting, characters, conflict, and plot for their story in outline format.
  4. Students view tutorials on www.TheRisingSun.com showing how to create a PowerPoint, how to create new compositions in Photoshop, etc.
  5. Student teams use digital cameras, computers, PowerPoint, and Photoshop to complete this project within the number of days allotted.
  • Be sure and watch first and second demonstrations of using the Quick Selection tool to copy people with their hair intact...
